Hayley swore life would be different when she left prison, she’d build a life for her and her daughter but it’s not that easy. She got robbed, and if she doesn’t get the stolen cash back to her boss today she and her daughter are done for.

The only person that might be able to help is her criminal ex — but she has to choose between saving herself, or saving her soul. One false move and she’ll lose them both.

Intense, dark and tenacious — this fast paced, slightly erratic story is told by a brilliant main character trying to claw her way out of a life of crime but drowning under the pressure. A few twists and turns that I did see coming but a good little read.

Not quite the thriller I was expecting, but it's a nice quick read with a happy ending. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it if you're looking for a medium-paced crime story.

This is one of the best quick reads books that I have read. This book has great story, plot and character development that is usually pretty hard to come by when reading short stories and quick reads. For that, I have to rate it five stars.

"One False Move" is a 'Quick Read 2017' book written by Dreda Mitchell and I can say I really enjoyed reading it.
It's quite easy to see this storyline as being more fact than fiction within the gangland estates and the author has done a good job of portraying life in these areas and the lengths people go to in order to survive. An intriguing and entertaining storyline that's well worth a read.
I haven't read anything before by D.S. Mitchell but I do know she is well established and has a very successful novel 'Blood Sister' published. I'd happily read more by her in the future and recommend this quick read book for crime readers of all ages.

A book that does what it says on the tin - it’s a quick read, but it gives a flavour of what the author’s work is like, and leaves me tempted to read more of her work.
