Plot📖 : 4/5. Spice🌶️: 4/5
Took me awhile to get through this book after being on a Smauggy bender. This is the last book I’m reading on my KU free trial and this was PERFECTO! I love the premise and the book was very refreshing, it gave Big Hero 6 vibes. It tells the story of Tiana Morris, an excellent coding whiz who is forced to join her brothers secret hacker organization to uncover her brothers murder. Being a Smauggy fan it was neat to see how the other Marvelous 3 series intersected with this one. It kept me on my toes the entire time. The ending is definitely a twist I didn’t see coming but I predicted bits and pieces along the way … Something I wish the author would stop doing in her books though is
having the most 1-dimensional side characters turn out to be side villains for a plot scare then tossed aside (The villains in the Sons of the Elite series, and Daniel's brother in 'Sins of the Father' come to mind. In this book, it's Owen's ex-fling Jay. Dang, Jay just had to be the psychotic gay lover that tries to Kill Tiana , and Tiana’s jump off David becomes the sacrificial lamb? #JusticeforDavid
. Now the question becomes , what does their new revelation mean for the rest of the group?

I just finished this, so everything is still pretty fresh in my mind on my thoughts on this book.
To start, I enjoyed the first 45% of the book. The dynamic and vibes I got from Tiana were amazing. She came off as a strong black woman who knew how the world worked and what to expect when she woke up every morning. Somewhere along the line, I became uninterested in her as a character; she seemed to get annoying, almost crybabyish, and overly horny for no reason at all.
My thoughts will be purely based on the book's second half because, as I said, I enjoyed the first half. I don't have any complaints on that part.

The book's second half seemed to be discombobulated and all over the place. The fact that Owen had been forced to tell Tiana at gunpoint how he felt was crazy. The fact that Jay (Owen's obsessive ex) had any substance to the plot was crazy. Shae and Anna just conveniently up and disappearing was crazy. The fact that Tiana got dicked down by Owen after being held at gunpoint, Owen admitted his feelings, and David (the guy she used, fucked, and ditched) got shot is crazy. The fact that it took Owen +500 pages to own up to his feelings was crazy. The only likable character in this book is a hyper-sexual playboy is crazy.

I can say that you can see the author's growth between this and her later work, "Screw an Angel, Love a Demon" I read that title before this one and thoroughly enjoyed the ride and characters in it.

This had medium pacing because there were missions.
The female lead was reckless and thought she knew better than everyone even though she was new to the team. They also came off as cheesy and corny.
The romantic kisses were repetitious. They all started with grabbing Tiana by her waist.
