I’m simultaneously in love with Emily’s writing and angry at her for being able to write so beautifully.

This is definitely one of her best works, if not her best, you feel completely immersed in the story. It’s impossible not to laugh, cry, and feel butterflies along with the characters. I felt so identified with both Nora and Charlie, not to mention Libby as well, I kind of had the feeling that I was part of the story. Henry decided to write a book where the main character would not normally have a happy ending and give it to them because she saw that they deserved it. She literally wrote a book for all of us who might sometimes feel as the not so popular side character in someone else’s story, her way of saying that we are the main characters of our story and that we will get the happiness we deserve in the end.

Definitely recommend. Definitely will re-read in the future. Definitely in love with Nora and Charlie.

A little graphic (romantically) for my taste, but the plot was overall good and had bits of heartening messages.

If you’re looking for an out of the box romance, this is a great place to start!

You know the Hallmark tropes of city slicker going to small town USA, falling in love, and dumping their Type A Exec girlfriend for the home town gal? Nora is the girl that gets dumped. Not once, not twice, but FOUR times! This is her story.

Pros:
Deep characters
Delves into difficult topics
Not your typical meet-cute RomCom
Highlights that different doesn’t mean wrong or unneeded.

Cons:
A bit too many F*bombs (53)

Really that was my biggest turn off! Sometimes they were warranted or could be looked over, but overall felt excessive.

Also be aware, that it IS open door romance. The scenes weren’t excessive or overdone and fit the story well.

I had a wonderful time reading this book! I was a little worried after reading People We Meet on Vacation and seeing the reviews that people preferred it's predecessor, but I found myself enjoying this one more. While both are good, I think that I had a better time watching the relationship unfold within this novel - perhaps because the miscommunication and conflict trope that is ever present in romance stories felt far less drawn out to me due to the timeline.

I adored the relationship and chemistry between the leads, particularly the banter that followed as a result. Moreover, I simply liked both the FL and ML, and was rooting for both of them outside of the main relationship.

Spoiler When reading, I did have a small seed of doubt that the book would end with her moving to a small town which I was desperately hoping wouldn't be the case. Luckily, my concerns were put to rest! You can take the girl out of the city but you can't take the city out of the girl! Good for her!

Overall, I recommend to any and all romance enthusiasts.
