A fluffy romantic read that gives the "big city girl with high powered job goes to small town where she falls in love with local hunk" trope a big twist. Easy to read and enjoyable overall, but I wasn't a fan of the spiciness level of the sex scenes. I've definitely read spicier stuff, but this was more than I wanted and really unnecessary as far as moving the plot along.

It’s good but not great. A lot of my problems with this book has to do with it coming across as the anti-hallmark movie book where the bitchy other woman gets explored. And for the first few chapters it is that. But then, as the romance builds that whole thing gets tossed to the wayside and it becomes a hallmark movie book with the Nora even saying she would move to be with a man she loves. The very thing she criticized her past boyfriends for doing. Obviously she doesn’t in the end but still. She becomes the thing she critiqued so heavily. So for me at least, it was a bit misleading. Besides that I thought the comedy was good, the steamy scenes were steamy. It’s what I expected. I was just let down.

This is my favorite book I’ve read in ages. The writing sparks. The characters are so vivid. I love it.

I loved everything. The dialogue was smart and snappy, the characters had depth and complexity, and it was filled with tropes while poking fun at said tropes.

Perhaps it will become my Christmas tradition to read a romance book every December, lol.
This book does a lot of things right in the beginning, I liked both Nora and Libby and Nora and Charlie's relationships, I liked the list of things to do in a small town, and even the
Spoiler yeti erotica jokes
. But as the book progressed, things got less fun, and more about Nora working through her overcoming her own personal hang ups and her relationship with her sister, and less about the guy she is really into. Which isn't necessarily bad in a book, but isn't really what I was looking for in a romance novel. Charlie especially lost a lot of character halfway through the book, which was incredibly disappointing.
Still, I found it heartwarming and entertaining. Emily Henry's thoughtful and witty writing made this book a great read, despite not entirely living up to my hopes.
