It's interesting to read Hold Still after having read We Are Okay. I can see elements of this biok in Nina LaCour's later work, which only made me appreciate her writing more. LaCour just writes grief so well and while this wasn't an easy read because of its subject matter, it was a really good one.

Maybe it is possible to glue pieces of a shredded heart back together. It might not be completely whole again but maybe that’s okay

There are moments in this book that are so spot on to this type of sadness and grief - lines that show real insight.
