Okay so 2 disclaimers:
1. I’m a Tinx lover regardless - hence why I even picked up this book.
2. I am in a long term happy relationship and recognize that I have absolutely no game and don’t really have any idea what it’s like to be single, let alone single in your 20s.

That said, i do think this was a great book that gave a lot of insight into the way people (specifically women) should approach the concept of dating. Yes i would like to say i would still be with my bf but i do wish i had some of these thoughts/guidelines back when we first started dating.

I have tons of friends who are single and either loving the single life or maybe have recently gone through a tough breakup (i promise im not calling you out there are multiple people this sentence applies to ^) and i now 10000% recommend them reading this book. If not for the rules of dating which i think could be helpful if you have no idea what you are doing bc you just got out of a long term relationship. But i think the shifting of mindset to be about you and your likes and growth vs if a guy likes you is SUCH a lesson to anyone - but especially to women in their 20s-30s.

I only wish she had started with the last part about self. I think that’s the best part of the book (acknowledging the other two parts felt less relevant to my daily life) but it was such a good perspective on being a young and dumb 20-something who feels like a failure bc tv says you’re supposed to have a perfect job you could only get with 15 yrs experience, live in a gorgeous apt that would easily be over $1mill and have all the money and time in the world to go out and drink and party with friends. Oh and also be a size 2 and never gain/lose weight or feel bad about your body since “these are the best years”. That’s all bullshit and Tinx calls it out so like a win in my book!

Overall definitely a good book even if you are in a relationship but feel like you struggle with picking yourself over others (whether that’s work or friends or relationships, etc)!!

Solid big sister advice on heterosexuality, but for everyone you can take away the theme of your self worth and how you can use The Shift to check yourself along the dating game

a feel good book. it’s like talking to a big sister who’s giving you a pep talk after a break up. i was most interested in the self confidence portion but that ended up being my least favorite part

A guilty pleasure- certainly cringey at times (hey bestie! sister! etc…) but contains sage, apt advice for a 20- something, or 30-something in 2023. Felt like I was at a sleepover w older girls telling me wtf is up. & sometimes what we already know deserves verbalization & repetition…
