This would be a great gift for the hardcore Pern lover in your life. The maps are fantastic and would enhance the reading of the series, particularly the first seven books. While there are lots of great details in here for a dedicated fan, it adds nothing new to the series, so it could be easily skipped by the casual reader.

Atlas and descriptions of the planet Pern. A lovely addition to a collection that aids in visualization and focus and detail. Brings the holds, weyrs and land masses into focus and helps a reader travel the world.

The only thing that could make this book better would be if it could be updated. I love maps and love the stories of Pern so I found this book to be a perfect combination. It answered so many questions and gave clear visualization to this magical world.
