This was so much fun!! Like if Mary Poppins and Kill Bill had a silly, deadly baby.

I couldn’t really follow it and there were too many big words but I’ll give it a go again sometime soon

This was so delightful insomuch that it reminded me of of my favorite book/audiodrama series Victoriocity if Victoriocity were a LOT more risqué. I read this as a standalone and I honestly would have given it five stars if it weren’t for the obvious call backs to the previous books that sort of felt boring and forced. I’m okay with books taking place in the same universe but shoving all the characters together feels too much like a Disney Channel crossover event for me.

I'm at a loss for how to rate this, as I found it light and fun (and I loved the implied autistic rep) but also boring at the same time. It's short, so I easily listened to it in one day, but had I put it down, I wouldn't have been super inclined to pick it back up and find out what happens in next or in the end. It was pleasant, but it did not inspire any investment.

I enjoyed Alex & Charlotte's book, but I positively adored this one. Alice & Daniel have my heart and soul. These two (clearly autistic) people find kindred spirits in each other, feeling understood and truly known for the first time in their lives. Two people have never before been so perfectly suited, and I'll die on that hill. Daniel's constant "idiom" reminders, the shared looks that would pass between them at too much noise or the prospect of – gasp – trivial conversation, quoting literature back and forth... genuinely cannot express how very charmed I am by these two.

There was the fun action-comedy backdrop as is Holton's signature, but I will confess, my love and attention was focused on our main couple and watching these two straight-laced secret agents fall head over heels rather than the sea of chaotic witches and pirates coloring the background. It was incredibly engaging, though, and I highly recommend the audiobook!

I would describe this book as tender, hilarious, romantic, and lots of fun. I love how India Holton expands on her world with each book. It’s a continuation of the story through a new perspective, pulling background characters from the previous book into the forefront. The pirates are ridiculous as always and I could easily relate to Alice’s view of them (being a fellow neurodivergent). The love story is sweet and the chemistry between Alice and Daniel draws you in.

I started with the second book in this series on accident and loved it so I read the first book and loved that one as well. I was really excited for this last book in the series and was immediately let down. This is a really hard one to get through. The humor—on point in the past—landed flat in this book. The chemistry between the FL and ML was non existent. I missed the easy banter of the first two books. It was a struggle for me to get through this.

I really liked the first book in the series but as the books go on I understand what's happening less and less and I'm not at all invested in the story.
