The plot in this volume revolved a lot about Shi Qingxuan which I really enjoyed since I absolutely adore his character. I didn’t expect his arc to be as devastating as it was, and I hope that things resolve for him in the next volume. I think the relationship between Shi Wudu and Shi Qingxuan is one of the most complex in the books so far.
It really broke my heart reading about Shi Qingxuan finding out that the older brother he admired so much is capable of such horrible things, and that other lives were ruined because the extreme lengths Shi Wudu took to protect him.
And Shi Qungxuan losing the best friend he never really had *screaming crying throwing up*

I really enjoy learning more about the other gods because I think they are such unique and interesting individuals. They all have their complex pasts and dirty secrets they don’t want anyone to find out. Even though they are blessed with divine power, they are not above the complicated and petty feelings of humans.

The Xie Lian and Hua Cheng scenes in this book did NOT disappoint. I was giggling kicking my feet the entire time. Xie Lian finally realizing that he feels something for Hua Cheng when they make out
✨exchange spiritual powers✨. The scene when they are talking about being seen at their worst times actually melted my heart, because Xie Lian doesn’t remember Hua Cheng from his past seeing him at his worst and still loving him 800 years later *sobbing*.

Even though this volume had some heavy scenes, I have to say the comedy was absolute gold. I was laughing out loud so many times. Xie Lian poisoning gods and ghosts with his cooking… hilarious every time!!

If I could give this book 6 stars or 7 stars, I would. Cause once again, I'm in awe and once again, I'm bewitched.

There were so many things happening in this one and every single page had me on a choke hold, literally. I didn't want to put it down, even for a second. The relationship between Hua Cheng and Xie Lian warmed my heart in every single way possible. I fell completely in love with them. I don't even know what to say at this point. Did Mo Xiang Tong Xiu sell her soul to the devil cause how did one acquire such skills needed to write this good of a book????????? I don't get it. Her writing captured and rendered me speechless. And she wrote this while she was in uni??? WAHTTTT???????????????

Not only did I fall in love with the two main characters, the side characters also gave me so much joy. They all had their own charming little character and I just...sigh. It's been a while since I was this captivated by a book and I'll be eternally grateful for it.

ps. the plot twists in this book were cruel. you didn't have to hurt me like that, Mo Xiang.

I liked this book the best so far in the series. The first one was good too so maybe on par with that. But now I know more of the works and I am more comfortable with the different characters and understand everything better. HC and XL are the best. They can’t stay away from each other abs always there for the other even when not needed. XL I still dense as an effing rock if you ask me. HC has the patience of a saint! But even so. Looking forward to see how their love develops and how their characters grow. I’m sad about what happened to basically anybody that was friends or cordial with XL in the upper court… he is basically alone now, lest for the small martial god of the (west?) ahah so cute. But yeah such tragic faiths. Now another ghost king might arise and looking forward to see how this specific predicament ends up. Also looking forward to understanding more why HC reacted how he did when the mount first opened and XL was doing damage control 😂💕

How is it possible to go from so much fun and giggles to weeping crying funerals in a single book
