Definitely some triggers - very dark, very well done plot, developed characters. Very dark.
Jess suffers from a medical condition - no recognition of pain. She cuts herself to watch her blood drip - counting on her longtime friend, now a prominent doctor at a local hospital, to provide stiches and care.
Jess wakes in the night to the sound of fire - grabbing her young daughter, they survive. But not her husband. Patrick is dead - and Jess is the primary suspect.
Cara and Noah are assigned to the case, as well as several other investigations; they seem unrelated until a major connection is revealed - someone is recreating famous serial killer's MO.
Jess escapes the hospital, working with Cara's brother Griffin to clear her name. Griffin has been recovering from his own personal tragedy - massive harm to his own body while listening to his wife being raped and murdered.
The murders continue; the leads are few; everyone is at risk.
Brutally written - excellent twists at the end that will keep you up at night, afraid of the dark.

Had it 5 stars all the way until the last 10%. Very solid overall - beware though, this book is dark and as others mentioned will have some triggers.

Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins UK Audio for this audiobook ARC.

What do you get when a killer copies other serial killer murders from previous years?? The Echo Man. Sadistic, horrific, horrendous and unforgiving acts and murders.

Fast paced, full of action with some head scratching this has made for a great listen. Sam Holland has pulled off a really suspenseful read which will give you Goosebumps. Some really dark scenes and probably not for anybody prone to triggers. The character building was amazing, felt like you knew each main person and could relate to how they were feeling. I didn't feel like the ending was predictable at all.

The narration was really great and the dual narrators really gave great feeling to this audiobook.

Highly recommend if you like dark mystery thrillers!

What. A. Book. It is not for the faint-hearted, and I must admit to it being darker than I expected it to be. But there is so much depth to this story and the characters, the darkness isn't just for shock factor - everything serves a purpose.

I loved the characters, flaws and all. They had so many layers. In terms of the Echo Man I also had multiple suspects, until I think I was accusing everyone. Kept guessing and being surprised til the end. Love that in a book.

If you have knowledge of true crime, I think you will get even more from it. It is just so creepy, and part of me hates how much I loved this book considering how disturbing it is. But hey, it is so well crafted, the writing perfect. It deserves all of the stars!

This drew me in right from the start - it's dark, disturbing & twisted, and I loved it! I found it really intriguing to have a serial killer who killed by copying some of the most notorious serial killers in history. As the story progressed, I flew through the book, wanting to know how the investigation into the serial killer and the arson that killed Jess' husband were linked. Just when I thought I had something figured out, I was proven wrong, again & again. The twists kept coming, right until the end, which left me shocked. This was a fantastic debut & I can't wait to see what Sam Holland does next!

Thanks to Crooked Lane Books & NetGalley for the DRC in exchange for an honest review.
