Thoughts mainly for myself to look back on…

Non spoiler Version: From page 1 I was already like “wtf is this”. I did go in knowing some spoilers, but was still really liking this in the first half and felt like I was reading a Lifetime channel movie. Then it did get extra disturbing at one point and I was no longer having that fun thriller movie feel & it honestly felt wrong to read. But I continued on to get to the ending and was it worth it? Idk. Idek. Idk what I think. What do I think? It was a fast read and for the most part, I was never bored. I got spooked, I got thrilled, I got disturbed, & let me tell you, I got annoyed & pissed at pretty much all of the main characters. And it’s refreshing to have strong emotions towards characters like this, even if negative, because I feel it’s kinda rare for me. I was ranting every other page.
So… it was… fun wouldn’t be the right word here, but entertaining. I was entertained and read it quicker than I thought I would. Not a fave but I have absolutely no regrets that I read it & it can be something I forever rant about. Not my usual genre so please keep that in mind as you’re reading this “review”, and only my second CoHo book. She is a great storyteller, I’ll give her that. I was concerned about her during some of these parts. 😅😳👀  I am curious what gave her this idea.
Overall would I reread? Idk, I don’t think it will be as good knowing things of course. Then again maybe, in the far off future when I’ve forgotten a lot. Would I recommend? Definitely depends on the person & I’d highly recommend looking up content warnings.
Oh also, I am a romance girl through and through, I like to have romance in pretty much every book I read. But the romance in here was not romance to me… and the smut? Omg, it was giving me whiplash going from smut to disturbing scenes.

I think CoHo did well. Her intention was probably to shock and disturb and she did that for me. 👏

Ok. So, going into this, I had the spoiler that Verity killed or tried to kill her kids. So that took some shock out of a lot. Those scenes were still unsettling though, and especially the trying to make Harper choke scene. That’s when I got really unsettled and the “I’m having fun like I’m watching a LifeTime movie feel” went out the window as I mentioned above.
The twist at the end I kinda did know about, some of it at least. I knew of Team Letter vs Team Manuscript before reading as well, so I kinda had a hunch/pretty much knew that it was going to be a “did she, or didn’t she” type thing.  The other twists involving Jeremy I kinda saw coming at the end, but was still surprised and jaw dropped, and others (like him already having read the manuscript) I didn’t see that coming.
Verity (well… Team Manuscript Verity) pissed me off to know end.
But so did Lowen. Maybe even more. Because she wasn’t freaking telling or showing anybody the manuscript! She was just going to leave it! And leave Crew in danger! Tf?! Then at the end she was turning into Verity with her selfish reasons. I honestly thought maybe one of the twists was going to go a more paranormal route or that Jeremy had a curse on him or something.
But then along comes Jeremy and the killing and finding out he’s not as innocent and oblivious as I thought, and Omg, these people are so unsafe for Crew help his poor little soul get out of that fucked up family.
   I know, I know. It’s a book.
Anyway, it definitely gave me strong emotions, this book. More pissed off than anything. Which as I stated, I like.
And am I Team Manuscript or Team Letter?
I am way too indecisive to give a certain answer… but I think I do lean more towards the former. Because the former would be one to write a letter to cover her tracks. Then again, I can understand the writer’s side/reasoning that Letter Verity gave.

But idk!!!! 😭

I think I have heard of a bonus chapter somewhere but idk? If it’s true I’ll have to read it and see if it helps me decide more, idk.

Idk, distrubed, unsettled, and pissed off. That’s how this book makes me feel. I was going to compile all of my out of context thoughts I shared live when reading but eh. Might decide to after all later but I’ll end this now.

This book was INTENSE, so much so I had trouble putting it down despite the very dark nature of it. A trigger warning should definitely be the first thing people see before starting it.
