Holy Moly what a ride. To be honest did not see the ending coming. But, after reading it, that was why I marked it down a star. Verity an accomplished writer is now a invalid. Jeremy her husband hires on a writer to finish her series. Lowen, the writer finds an autobiographical manuscript and her horror begins. Tough to read about the tragedies. I did feel Lowen’s character lacked depth. Jeremy was a bit bland. And I was disappointed with the revelation. I do not believe a writer would not make sure to put a disclaimer at the very beginning in case someone read it. Then again I am not a writer. Still a page turner for me.

It's a 3.5 for me. I like Hoover a lot and respect her writing. It was a page turner but mostly because I just wanted to know if I was right.
I will continue to read her as I like her style. This wasn't my fave of hers but that's ok. I liked it. 3-3.5 is a good rating for me. 3 is, this is a good book on my scale.
It won't be for everyone. It was creative and interesting how she kept it unreliable the whole way even until the ending.

This review will be full of my thoughts on the way things went down thus including hella spoilers. You've been warned.
So hear me out, Verity has multiple personalities and whatever other mental health challenges that makes her see things and think things that only happened in her mind. Verity and Lowen are somewhat similar in their backgrounds, career, and sex life with Jeremy.
Things happen, like the attempted murder (and eventually successful) murder of the twins, the car accident, the vegetative state of Verity, the attempted murder of her on two different accounts then the successful murder of Verity that leave a lot of questions. Things I think Co Ho would have wrapped up even if she had to make the book a series. She left those loose ends because they didn't really happen. It was all schizophrenic episodes or psychosis or whatever mental illness that causes alternate states of consciousness. I'm wondering if Lowen was the most sane of all of her personalities and Lowen was trying to "kill" the more disruptive personalities.
