My thoughts regarding Renji and Byakuya are the same as from volume 7. Renji is incredibly bloodthirsty and at this early stage in the manga, Byakuya is drawn as a prepubescent.

I hope Ishida feels good about how his little contest played out, and eventually led to the discovery of Rukia’s gigai.

This book is mainly one long battle, so there isn’t a whole lot to say about it. I do enjoy how everything is now coming together for the first big storyline.
