As always, another great book by Jewel E. Ann. It's 2020 though and I don't have much left in me to give. So, a well thought out review is not in the cards today. Just know this was a fantastic story with great characters and all the feelz.

This is the first prologue to ever make me cry. I had tears in my eyes for so much of this book. And sometimes, there was just too many to hold back. This book has so much life and love, heartbreak and struggle, and forgiveness and strength. It’s a beautiful story of learning how to live, instead of just existing. Flint carries such a heavy weight. And while he’s busy just existing, he nearly misses the life around him. The love that surrounds him. Ellen Rodgers all but falls into his life. But his first instinct is to kick her out. Quite literally. Except there is such a pull between them, that fate makes it impossible for him to get rid of her and forget about her existence. Not to mention, Ellen and his son Harrison would never allow that (and they don’t). Flint has met his match in Ellen. She brings so much color and love into his life. It’s impossible to ignore, no matter how much he tries. They don’t hide the dark and dirty from each other. Their demons are right there in the open. They don’t ignore their pasts, and they don’t pretend nothing happened. Unfortunately, their demons are also between them. But in fighting through them, they’re fighting them together. And it only makes their love stronger. If the tension was any hotter, his suits would burst into flames! For as much pain as there was in this story, I was constantly laughing. Not silent little giggles, full on laughter! There was so much joy and lighthearted moments between everyone. Truly, a beautiful love story for all the characters! It’s such an amazing feeling when you finish a book, and you let out a satisfied sigh. Feeling so in love, content, and complete.

My Favorite Quotes:
• “Touch me. Anywhere. Everywhere…just…touch me.”
• ‘She smells like the forbidden and tastes like my newest addiction.’
• “Let me touch you.”
• “I may have planned on sex…but I sure as hell never planned on you.”
• ‘She tastes like forgiveness and feels like freedom.’
• “You’re the first breath of oxygen that’s touched my lungs in ten years.”
• “Which finger or fingers should I be jealous of tonight?”
• “You should leave. Because if you don’t, I’m going to fall in love with you.”
• “If you don’t stop humming, I’m going to have to gag you.”
• “I’m going to love you so hard, time won’t matter. Distance won’t matter. All you’ll feel when you take each breath is my love.”
• “It’s all yours. I’m yours.”

Flint has been living a tormented life over the last few years. I don’t want to go into detail because that would be a MAJOR spoiler. At times I wanted to shake Flint because he did make a mistake, a HUGE mistake but he needed to take more accountability for his actions. I had a hard time empathizing with him because I need more from him character wise.

Ellen was a hoot! I loved her character and how selfless she was as a person. Ellen has been hurt in the past but still tries to see the good in people. She’s is a ray of sunshine and really good for Flint. Plus her choice of pets made me chuckle, especially their names.

This is my first time reading a book by this author and I have to say I was impressed. I like her writing style and the pacing of the story. The story had me smiling, laughing, sighing and even shaking my head at times. This author comes highly recommended by a lot of my books friends and I will be sure to read her back titles.
