So she leaves the school, gets caught by a hot guy who is older then her, he trains her, they get physical then a life threatening thing happens, she survives, and then they cant be together but will get together later in the series of course....hmmm sounds familiar....
This author absolutely stole the plot line from the first vampire academy book...and not even the good books from that series (the first two books weren't that good) she could have at least stolen the plot from the 5th or 6th for christs sake.
anyway, i would have rated this book higher if it was more of a original idea

I’m so glad I read this because this book was actually one of the best books I’ve read this year.Like I don’t think this book could ever disappoint anyone.

When I started this book I just knew I would like this series. Who doesn’t love JLA? Right? And who doesn’t love a badass main character and two sexy guys? I mean, come one! This is just 100 % ‘You will love this’-material!

The books starts with an introduction of the kinds of Hematoi and their history and rules. First I was like ‘How the hell am I going to remember all of this?’, but then I noticed it’s like Vampire Academy. I bothered me a little in the beginning, but after a while I was thankful for it, because it helped me remember the ‘status’ of everyone and who could be with who.
“There is a difference between love and need. Sometimes, what you feel is immediate and without rhyme or reason.”
First of all: Alexandra, or Alex, is a freaking badass! I loved her! I don’t want to compare this to VA too much, but she reminded me of Rose. She is determined and she stood up for herself. She’s been through one hell of a time, but she was still so strong. I just loved her.
Then he leaned forward and rested his cheek against mine. Hot tingles spread through me as his lips moved against my ear. "You should tell me to stop."
I didn't say a word.
And then, she meets Aiden. Ohmygoooood. HE. IS. FREAKING. HOT. I don’t think I need to say more? I’m so curious how Aiden and Alex are going to handle their… feelings. Oh, I’m SO excited!
Seth glanced back over his shoulder at the door. “Alex, you’re starting to worry me. Insult me… or something.”
Oh, but there’s also Seth. *sighs* He’s funny and I couldn’t get enough of him! I’m actually kind of glad he will have to spent a lot of time with Alex, because I cannot wait for them to work together with all that .. tension *squeals internally* between them!
“It was just a hug, but gods, it meant so much. It meant everything.”
This book has everything a paranormal (romance) series needs to have! It has a lot of action, Greek mythology, interesting/badass characters, a great plot and two sexy guys.
This book is the start of for this series. It has a lot of potential and I cannot wait to find out more about everything. I think I’m going to marathon this whole series! :D

And now you’re probably wondering why I’m not giving it 5 stars? To be honest, I don’t know. I just feel like this isn’t worth a full 5 stars, because I’m sensing one of the next books in this series will blow me away. And I think that book will deserve the full 5 stars. Does this make sense? I hope it does :D

Desde que empecé a leer no pude parar hasta acabarlo. Sin embargo no le doy las 5 estrellas porque es demasiado parecido a Vampire Academy, prácticamente se repiten todos los giros en la trama.

Il libro ha un’ambientazione mitologica, con divinità greche. Lo stile dell’autrice è scorrevole e coinvolgente, e i dialoghi sono divertenti e ironici. Tuttavia, ho trovato il libro troppo simile alla serie Vampire Academy. Mi è sembrato di leggere la stessa storia con nomi diversi. I personaggi mi sono sembrati poco originali e prevedibili, e la trama non mi ha riservato grandi sorprese. Mi sarebbe piaciuto leggere qualcosa di più innovativo e sorprendente.
In conclusione, il libro si lascia leggere ma non mi ha entusiasmato.

Este es un libro que para ser el primero de una saga no ha estado nada mal. Sí que afirmo que es bastante lento y por ello le he dado menos nota, ya que me hubiese gustado ver más transfondo entre los personajes. Estos me han parecido muy interesantes, algunos más que otros. Ver hacia dónde se está encaminando la trama luego de ese final me hace tener muchas teorías y me dejan con mayor hype de seguir leyendo la saga. El romance no me ha terminado de llenar del todo porque no me convence el protagonista de momento. El concepto de amor prohibido no está mal llevado y es lo que me intriga, ya que ambos al ser razas diferentes no pueden estar juntos como pareja. Me he quedado con MUCHAS ganas de seguir conociendo a un personaje masculino que me tiene enamorada desde su primera aparición. Tiene mucho potencial para ser de mis crushes de la vida y espero que ahonden más en su historia en los próximos libros. La pluma de la autora no decepciona y aunque el libro es muy introductorio, se hace muy ameno gracias a la narrativa de Jennifer.
Ahora os hablaré un poco de los personajes principales. Por un lado tenemos a Alexandria, nuestra protagonista femenina. Ella es una chica que huyó de Covenant con su madre sin saber por qué lo hacían. Sin embargo, tal decisión las lleva a enfrentarse a los daimons y a que su madre pierda la vida. De no ser porque los habitantes de Covenant las rescatan, ella tampoco estaría viva. Ahora, Alex tiene que hacer frente a su nueva realidad. Le han dado la oportunidad de mejorar sus habilidades en un período de tiempo para seguir allí o acabará convirtiéndose en una sirvienta más del lugar. Sin embargo, para mejorar será entrenada por Aiden, un sangre pura que consigue revolucionar su corazón con su presencia. Sabe que eso está mal, que no puede permitirlo, y es que su relación está prohibida. Por su propia seguridad tiene que controlar esas emociones y seguir entrenando para llegar a ser una Centinela. Pero la vida no se lo pondrá fácil y menos cuando descubra algo que le tambaleará el mundo por completo. Alexandria es un personaje que me ha costado entender al inicio. Tenía un carácter muy hiperactivo y una personalidad demasiado directa y mordaz, con lo que de primeras te puedes llevar una impresión negativa de ella. Sin embargo, poco a poco he ido viendo más el por qué de ello y consigues empatizar con ella y las situaciones que la llevan a ser así. Bien es cierto que empatizas muy poco en este primer libro con ella, pero como dije es un primer libro que se centra más en presentarte el mundo en sí y menos en ahondar en los personajes. Por otro lado tenemos a los personajes principales que van a dar hincapié en el camino de Álex. No puedo hablar extensamente de ellos, pero sí detallaros qué papel toma cada uno. Aiden es el entrenador de Álex y un sangre pura. Muestra muy poco sus emociones y de primeras puede chocarte un poco su conducta. Es el personaje con el que menos he empatizado de primeras y que no me ha terminado de convencer. Caleb es uno de los buenos amigos de Álex y está lleno de vitalidad y alegría constante. Seth es el Apollyon y el más respetado de todo Covenant. Su poder no tiene límites y desde el primer segundo consigue robarte el aliento. No negaré que es mi favorito de cabeza y al que quiero conocer en profundidad en los demás libros.
En resumen, "Mestiza" es la primera parte de una saga que me ha gustado mucho aunque se me haya hecho lenta al principio. El libro tarda en tomar forma, pero de la mitad en adelante te enganchas bastante. Me he quedado con ganas de seguir descubriendo a los personajes y el destino que les depara a todos. De momento ha sido una primera toma de contacto y por lo tanto no he empatizado demasiado con los personajes. Ha sido un libro de mucha información base para entender el mundo donde nos sumerge la autora y aunque sea lento me ha entretenido bastante. El final te deja con muchas hipotesis como todos los finales que suele dejar la autora en sus sagas. La trama se ve muy elaborada y si la autora lo profundiza más creo que puede llegar a ser uno de mis mundos favoritos.

I can see why people would compare this to Vampire Academy though it does have some significant differences too that sets it apart to a degree. Overall an okay read, nothing phenomenal.
