What originally drew me into this story was the 12 Days of Christmas theme; the characters in the plot are all playing roles for a fictional murder mystery, and each have a 12-Days themed name. But, of course, a real murder happens. And the bodies begin to pile up the closer the main character gets to the truth.

Initially, I thought I’d made the mistake of picking up yet another murder mystery with a similar plot to the one I’d not long finished, but I’m so glad I didn’t listen to that original misconception. As the story grew and the plot thickened, I found myself hooked and excited to find out what happened next. The format of the book and how it was divided into parts made it feel like watching a whodunnit movie. While I was trying to solve the mystery along the way (and had thought I’d cracked it early on), I was so surprised and pleased with the ending, as well as the twists and turns throughout.

This book absolutely deserves its high rating, and I’d recommend it to anyone that loves a Christmas time mystery.

An entertaining Christmas-themed murder mystery.

The remote snowy setting was fun. The characters were mostly unlikeable but I think that was fitting. The writing was decent.

Listened to the audiobook which was narrated very well.

Thank you to Edelweiss, Pegasus Books, and Simon & Schuster for the opportunity to read and review this book before it's publication date! This in no way affected my review, opinions are my own.

YOOOOOOOOOO first things first I finished this in practically one sitting - absolutely could not put it down, super atmospheric whodunnit with twisty psychological wackadoodle red herrings and you think you’ve got it figured out and you mostly do but you DON’T, okay? You don’t.

(FYI: Check the content warnings)

Loved the nods to Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None (which I read earlier this year and LOVED), loved how creepy and atmospheric it was, loved the flashbacks.

(All of that being said, there was ONE character that I didn’t really get, a bit out of place with the rest of the story, but whatever, just moving on)

Also, this one might not be everyone’s cup of tea so normally I would have chosen “borrow” rather than “bring” but THIS COVER? Yeah. It’s gotta go on the shelves.
