This is one of the best books I've ever read/listened to. While there are lots of tough moments (check the content warnings) it's an incredibly beautiful, heartwarming, and moving book.

So this book ripped out my heart and tore it to shreds. So beautifully well written, I feel like I could’ve highlighted all of it, and I’m not even an annotating girly.

The concept is interesting and enlightening. The author absolutely has a lot of talent and potential. With more practice and refining, they can go far. 
I do feel the metaphors dragged on too long. As lovely as they were, it took away from some of the emotional moments. I also found that some of the dialogue was repeated so often that the sayings lost their impact. (Ex: "You're okay. I've got you," was said whenever someone had a an emotional moment)
I also would have appreciated a break in between character deaths. 3 in a row was quite a lot.
 That all being said, i did enjoy the novel and hope to see the growth I believe Lancali is capable of!

This is one of my favorite books, I find myself rereading it over and over again. I find the characters incredibly lovable and real, I relate to every single one. This story takes itself seriously, but there are moments of lighthearted joy and laughter.
