I received an ARC to review

This book doesn't sound like it should work the sacrificial good girl, the shallow suave former hooker, and the stoic former mp that until now seemed pretty uptight. Throughout the book though we get to see their emotional dynamics and the secret facets of their personalities. The emotional connection and power dynamics are what save this from being just another gratuitous mfm book. You get to see the secret vulnerable side of Ace, the raw emotional CRUZ and Rachel taking a stand for herself and the other O'Kanes.

Can I just say that Cruz rocked my world in this book?! I totally thought it would be another "gay for you" story where Cruz isn't attracted to men except for Ace. The whole "fraternization" issue that was mentioned several times hinted that it wasn't but the shower scene between the boys *fans self* with his internal monologue showed that our Cruz wasn't as inexperienced as he once seemed. My hands down favorite quote of the whole book is:

"What'll happen if I tell him? If I tell him I risked everyone in the damn sector, everyone in all the sectors. That I promised the scariest man any of us will ever meet an open -ended favor, and in return he kidnapped the most prized doctor in Eden and brought her here in the trunk of a fucking car?" Cruz slammed an open palm against the headboard and leaned over them, his gaze a little wild. "What will you do if I tell you that, Ace ? Will you finally believe I fucking love you ? Or will you figure out a way that it's all about her?"

Also can we all agree that Kit Rocha is the master of the tease? I now want to know who this mysterious Ford that keeps being talked about but oddly never interacts with any of the characters is. I'm on pins and needles about Nessa, Jared, Mad, Jade, Scarlet, and Doc. There's so much tension I need a cold shower. And honestly the ending made me curse and wish I had a time machine since I don't this is me for the next few months.

My grandfather passed and I can't bring myself to come back/finish the book or series.

I have been waiting on this relationship storyline for a while. No really disappointments. The spice was off the charts but I would have liked more relationship development between Cruz and Ace. There was some, I just wanted more, I’m greedy.

This book made me go "Oh. Oooohh..... good for you girl"

The more you read into this series the more the plot unfolds which is an interesting way to write-it reads like a telenovela which is probably why I've committed so much time into the series. I think this one was my favorite of the first 4 in this series. The characters were not only relatable to some extent, but charismatic and interesting. I did tear up a bit as well. It ends on quite the cliff hanger so realistically I'll probably continue reading this series.

So I read [b:Beyond Shame|15830843|Beyond Shame (Beyond, #1)|Kit Rocha|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1347036314s/15830843.jpg|21565716] and complained that I wanted the books to be more queer and kinky, and less heteronormative. A friend recommended #4, and it delivered! I am a sucker for triads and for characters who give everything to others because they don't think they deserve anything.

I do think there still could have been more m/m balance, but it was still lovely.

2.5 stars.

I had a hard time getting into this story but I’m probably going to revisit since many of my friends really liked it.

Okay, so this love triangle has been building since the first book when it was still just Ace and Rachel, but it was easily the most difficult to write well. It's a very complicated poly-amorous relationship that could easily have been all sex and no substance. I think the ladies behind the Kit Rocha name did a really good job of writing a story that would make their fans happy...for the most part.
I didn't buy Ace and Cruz's feelings towards each other the way Rachel was interpreting them. It never felt like they had feelings for each other that weren't platonic. In fact, I felt like they loved each other like brothers, and because of that, their was a definite competitive feel I got that *spoiler* disappeared towards the end so their story could wrap up the way people would want it to. I mean, their competing with each other has been beaten in since Cruz showed up, I felt like the ending was too neat considering that.

Ace is a character I've been looking forward to reading about for a while, but I didn't sympathize with him so much. I felt he needed to suck it up, every other paragraph was him saying he would mess everything up so why not do something on purpose, or how he was the platform for Cruz and Rachel to develop their relationship...

The book definitely leaves off on a cliffhanger that will have fans of the series dying to read the next book, which is set to be out soon, but as of now has no official release date.
I definitely think if you've enjoyed the series so far, you should check it out, but it's my least favorite of the stories I've read in this universe so far.
