I have really enjoyed the Dana Hargrove series and liked watching main character Dana Hargrove move through her professional life, starting from a lowly assistant DA, to where she now is as a judge in Manhattan. Her husband, Evan, is now teaching law, and their son is a law student at the same university. I find it interesting how each novel shows different characters taking center stage, and in this one, Dana’s sister, who is an actress on a law-and-order type TV show has a larger role, along with Dana’s daughter. Dana is presiding over several high-profile cases and someone (perhaps an enemy from her past in the DA’s office?) is out for revenge. Evan has a student stalking him. Someone is stalking their family, too. This was a shivery novel, between the court cases and the stalking piece… and I loved every minute!

I received this as a giveaway. It was the first Dana Hargrove book that I read. You do not have to read the previous books to understand what is going on, which makes this even more enjoyable.

I like how this book incorporates the law, there is law school involved, a judge, and trials, but it does not get into the law and specifics of what happens in the courtroom. There were a lot of things I could relate to in this book, including my own experiences in law school. It was also interesting to see the family dynamics in the story and you get to know the characters and can relate to them.

I enjoyed how the story is told from multiple perspectives. There were a few times it was a little confusing as the story seemed almost to repeat itself, but it was from different characters perspectives, but just changed all of a sudden. It might have been easier to follow with more breakdowns, but it was still very good and enjoyable.
