For a book where a huge part of the story revolves around Bingo…there were several errors about the actual game of bingo. It honestly made me so irrationally angry that I almost DNFd at the 90% mark.
Redemption star because I enjoyed the FMC’s journey of finding friends and stepping out of her anxiety comfort zone.

This book had so much potential to be great. Instead it was just a good, solid romance. I don’t think the all scenes between the main characters or even between the main and side characters were as built out as they needed to be. There were times when I’d flip to the next chapter and be SO disappointed that we missed the majority of a dinner party or we were now a week ahead. I was left wanting more!!
4 stars, 3.75 if I’m feeling REALLY nitpicky

So cute. Made me laugh and smile a lot. Love how it was a rom com but still had serious undertones with both Aja and Walter’s mental health

For the first time ever, I had the chance to read a book from a split POV where the FMC is a fat/curvy (or your preferred terminology) Black woman, yet she doesn’t describe herself that way and never ever despairs about her size or second guesses one item in her meal. So refreshing! The MMC describes her clothes covering her thighs or her shirt coming off of her belly showing stretch marks, yet his POV is ALL thirst. Again, refreshing!
This book is also marked as disability representation because both main characters have anxiety disorders and the MMC has PTSD (if not cPTSD). This author does an incredible job with each character and how their anxiety manifests for them physically, emotionally, and socially. Both characters are in therapy and continuously, imperfectly working on themselves. It was impressive for a romance title.
The plot of the bet over bingo was probably 3 stars for me, but the 2 previous paragraphs plus quality writing and audiobook narration for the sex scenes raises this to 4.25 stars.

Bet on It by Jodie Slaughter is absolutely adorable! Featuring unique and interesting characters that feel like someone you could meet in real life - you will absolutely fall in love with them. The relationships between the characters felt genuine and real, something that could seem unrealistic in some stories. I am someone who can be made incredibly uncomfortable by steamy/spicy scenes but these ones were kind of... charming? in their own way. Overall, this book was wonderful and you'll love to watch the relationship between the main characters grow.
