All the familiar themes of 1984 are there accept a little less developed and a little more hopeful (they are just farm animals after all). A great read none the less, but a tough comparison in light of the work that followed this one.

Took this all in during one day of my holiday. Fantastic school reading, though I'm in my late 20s now. I would've loved to read a more in depth version, more intended for adults, but I suppose Orwell's main goal was to communicate his message. Perhaps I'll have to turn to 1984 for that.

So strange that I read this almost directly after finishing the Hunger Games trilogy, which includes rebellions & greedy rulers working their subjects hard with hypocrisy too...
