Fron all the books in this series that i had listen, i still love Reid story the best. Now in Halton, it falls short. To be honest, the theme of this books is similar to Bently. I have really hard time connecting with Halton. In my mind he is sort of baby.
He feels sorry for himself way too much. I am bit disappointed that Miss Moreland can not bring more intense and complex character into Halton.
Overall i do not love this book nor hate it either.

Halton oh Halton, you're breaking my heart. Once again Melanie Moreland wrote another beautiful story which is emotion-charged with a wonderful father figure, angsty as heck Hero and a strong big-hearted heroine. I reached for the tissue box time and time again, my heart aches for Halton as a little boy and as a mother, I just want to give him huge hugs! I adore Rene, Halton's assistant slash father-figure, he's funny and ever so wise. I'm so in love with Fiona aka Fee, such a strong woman and I love how forgiving she was. Her capacity to forgive and love knows no bounds. Melanie Moreland always write such compelling characters but none so more than our 2 main characters. I'm so glad they found their Happily Ever After.

I'm so addicted to the Vested Interest series. Halton's did not disappoint.
I enjoyed getting to know Halton, and his relationship with the BAM boys, and liked meeting Fee and her connection with Halton. The story overall was great, Fee approaches Halton for help during her divorce, it just so happens her soon to be ex husband happens to be a rival lawyer that Halton is not a fan of.
I enjoyed the story and the build up, I liked seeing Fee climb out of her shell and start to trust Halton after being in a toxic marriage. Enjoyed their banter and their relationship.
I gave it a four, only because I feel like there were some loops that were never closed. Halton's ex makes a scene when he breaks up with her at the start of the book, and she even gets mentioned later that she made a scene at the office to talk to him and Fee puts her in her place, but it felt like that arc was left a bit open as if she was going to come back and cause trouble. There was another scene at at bar where Halton dissuades a guy from talking to Fee, but the way the guy was written, it seemed (to me anyway) that he was more then just a guy trying to hit on Fee, so I kept waiting for him to pop up, he never did. But I also think I've read way to much romance and read to much into these small moments.
Other then that I very much enjoyed Halton and Fee's story.
