Teased is a novella in the Dark Protectors paranormal romance series by bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti. It's the fourth novella in the series, but the first of three released under 1001 Dark Nights, and is the eleventh overall installment. Now, those familiar with reviews know I'm someone who reads a series in order because it gives me a more complete experience, especially if books are tied together in one way or another. In the case of the Dark Protector series, I started reading on December 16 and I may have over-estimated being able to finish the first ten books before Teased. I had to stop in the middle of Shadowed (book six) in order to read Teased and get this review, which is part of a blog tour, out in time. I've still got one and half full-length novel and a remaining novella to get through but the series has become a favorite.

This was a fast-paced story that had a good amount of action and thrills, courtesy of retired Realm assassin turned computer whiz Chalton Reese, but journalist Olivia Roberts is no one to be messed with, putting up a fight to protect her story and source. Things get more intriguing when Chalton's brothers show up, which then adds on to the element of intrigue that was already introduced with trying to figure out who Olivia's well-informed source is. The story certainly surprised me a couple of times, especially when Olivia's source and the individual's motives were revealed. I'm glad Chalton got his own shot at happiness and how everything felt like a full circle moment when it came to his family. I've enjoyed how the novellas give fans of the series well-rounded stories for memorable characters. Teased gets four stars. ♥

This was the first book I've read by Rebecca Zanetti. Very engaging writing and lovable, complex characters. My only caveat is that it was pretty cis-hetero; if Zanetti writes any queer romance I would be all over that.

Ugh, was it just me or did the chemistry feel so freaking forced?

Teased was a meh kind of novella for me. I have had my ups and downs with the 1001 Dark Nights series and I just pray that I don't start giving one stars out. The only good thing about these books is that they are so easy to fly through. It just sucks donkey balls when they are completely boring or un-interesting.

In it, you will meet Chalton and Olivia. Both were okay by themselves.. but ugh, so dull when they were together. I didn't get any chemistry from them whatsoever and they also made zero sense to me. I couldn't ship them together because they made my brain hurt so much. Ugh, I'm just glad that it's over and done with.

If you ever ask the question, “Can I pick up a Rebecca Zanetti book in the middle of a series and just read and thoroughly enjoy it?” I am here to answer that you can. I unfortunately have not read any other of the Dark Protectors series but found myself engrossed in the world Rebecca has created and in Chalton and Olivia. I have also found myself wanting to start at the beginning of this series and read all the books up to this one and past it. I can’t imagine that Rebecca can create anything other than brilliance.

Even though Teased is a short novella, it does not hold back in the action (and the many forms of action one character can have.) Opening with some highly intensive action scenes, our two characters meet and the plot starts to uncover. Enough of the background is given so that you are not lost and things keep on heating up so you are never bored.

Plus, it looks like a future couple is introduced in this book and I am very intrigued on how this is going to play out. I can’t wait to see how this turns out!

Une nouvelle dans l'univers des Dark Protectors que j'ai mis bien trop de temps à commencer : légère, sexy et amusante, une histoire parfaite pour se détendre avant la rentrée (j'ai hâte de lire l'histoire des deux autres frères =D)

A novella in the Dark Protectors universe that I took way too long to start : light, sexy and fun, a perfect story to relax before the start of the school year (I can't wait to read the story of the two other brothers =D)

a great story. not only for Chalton to do an outside mission away from computers, but to find out of touch family, and to find love.

The other 2 brothers stories follow on the next novellas which brings them more into the realm and to be able to stay with Chalton.

Olivia is a great little Firefox!!!
