I won Ice Cold as a first reads book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, whose twists and turns kept me reading and flipping through the pages. As many of other reviewers have mentioned, this wasn't the best introduction to Jane and Maura, or other supporting characters. I also felt that the Maryland shell company plot line wasn't very well-developed or discussed.
At times, Gerritsen's writing seems stilted with too much dialogue, lacking in substance. However, I really enjoyed the book and will probably pick up other books from this series. I'm also interested to see what TNT does with the series, particularly since I loved Sasha Alexander in NCIS.

This time it's Isles in the hot spot, or rather cold. On a mountain, in the snow - and then there's the cult. And the missing inhabitants. And the leg to be amputated. And it's hard to tell who's friend or foe...

This was an enjoyable super quick read. Without any spoilers, I'll say that I hope to GOD that one thing is really done.
I skimmed a few negative reviews and I don't get something: how are so many people confused about what happened to the companions? I thought it was pretty damn clear what happened to them. ?

This book started out great. What a interesting set up. Stranded in a snow storm in a spooky deserted cult settlement that the people seemed to have just vanished from. But then(needle scratches across the record) it almost seemed like someone else started writing the story. Predictable small town police bought off investigation leading to a boring Scooby-Doo ending. Waa waa waa, what a disappointment. It leaves you dangling with a lead in to the next book but, sorry, not interested.
