I can't even with this. Where do I even begin?
This is a historical romance filled with flawed (lemme say that again, FLAWED) characters and a plot that keeps the action going so much that you'll feel like 50 chapters are too little.
I want to give a summary, but I feel like I can't say anything without giving spoilers. But essentially, it's a story questioning humanity and dealing with the fear of the unknown that humans have. We shun that which we do not understand and try to overpower it, fearing it would harm us if we did not harm it first.
There are questions about whether a human is still considered human after they do abhorrent things. Is a nonhuman entity more humane than us if it goes against its nature to kill and destroy for the sake of understanding humanity?
It's just a beautiful story. I love the way the characters are written in this one because there isn't a single character that is not harmed by its toxic environment, but they all deal with their treatment differently, and their choices are why we root for some of them and despise others, even tho they've all done bad things (except Soru, who's precious😭 and Yumi) The ending is a bit rushed in the Webtoon, but if you read the light novel, it's explained well and gives proper closure. (But it is also explained in one of the top comments on the last EP of the Webtoon, so don't worry.)
PS: Read the trigger warnings, though. Things get pretty intense in there😬 There's gore, BLOOD, death, torture, abuse (of many types), and demons (attractive and otherwise).
Graphic: Child abuse, Death, Emotional abuse, Physical abuse, and Blood
Moderate: Gore and Torture

I'll be honest, this webtoon is pain incarnate. Beautiful art. Tragic story. And I'm nowhere near all of my answers, well, answered. I'm chomping at the bit for the next season when this one just ended.
If you like tragedy, complex characters, and some of the most exquisite artwork you've ever seen, this is for you. It'll make you want to cry. You'll be double-shipping because who can choose more than one ship? You'll rethink what you thought about the "villain" later in the season.
Just too good. This art is too good and the story got me feeling all the feels.
