I heard about these penguins LONG before I heard about this book and it is so uplifting and special. Reading the tale of little Tango again in this illustrated gem was just the icing on the cake.

Great story. Great illustrations. I need to get to the central park zoo!

This book caught my attention because - well - penguins . Gay penguins are one of my favourite stories ever (the first one I heard about : the ones in Edinburgh zoo). It's not even fictional - zoos all over the world are assisting/encouraging gay penguins to adopt abandoned eggos - and it's just the cutest thing . Also, most penguins mate for life . Also, even though it's a short book with sparse dialogues - I think this would make the perfect gift for any tiny human who's ready to trade milk-drunk babbles for some lingua franca of the adult world . I took one star off the rating because I thought the illustrations could have been done better . Either that, or they just weren't the kind of illustrations that I was able to fully appreciate . The colour combinations were not brilliant/vibrant enough as well . I feel like the visual elements/aspects of books like that should be given more attention - esp. in 'children's books'.

A great way to look at and talk about family structures via the animal kingdom, explore the Central Park Zoo, and learn about a true-life story.
