An interesting story…I felt it dragged a bit at the end (and I wasn’t a fan of the ending).

This books is almost an easy 5 stars. One thing I would do though is that the few female characters in the book don’t have much autonomy. Still a fantastic book and one of my favorites!

Chabon presta aqui A homenagem à Golden Age.

I started this book all the way back in 2011. I got about a third of the way in before I stopped reading. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy it, I think I just kind of lost interest and moved on to something else. That said, I always had the intention of going back and finishing.

Cut to now and I started the book from scratch a week or two ago. While it took me a few tries to get hooked again, I finally did, and as a result, I was not able to put this book down.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Especially to those looking for an escape.

Another reread that didn't live up to first impressions from decades ago, but this was still very, very good. Some issues with it: the Joe sections were much stronger than the Sammy ones; Rosa was a complete cipher (and the only female character); it didn't really grab me until 400 pages in; and the resumption of relationships when Joe, Sammy, and Rosa, are reunited seemed hard to believe. But wow, the storytelling, and you really feel for the two main characters.
