I enjoyed this read. It’s really a 3.5, but I couldn’t put it down so I rounded up.

This was a pretty quick read. It was fun reading dual timelines. 1885 and 1985. At first, you think the connection is the Dakota building, but you slowly start to learn there is more than just that. I read this for book club, and I look forward to discussing it. The part that got to me and did in another book I read as well was the island asylum. I have heard stories of women being sent away as if they are crazy when they are not so a problem can be erased. That happened in the 1800 timeline. It infuriates me that it was "normal" for that time period. But I will not get into that here. It's a good book. It kept me engrossed.

A fascinating and enthralling tale of an iconic building and its possibly dramatic beginnings and history. Unfortunately the people are less well drawn, their actions obviously following the plot the author wanted rather than based on character development.
