I wasn't super into the first half of this, because Rose was such a mess because of spoilery plot things, but the second half was much, much better. I liked the focus on Rose and Christian's relationship in this book. I was a bit meh on him in book one, but he's improved loads since then to become one of my favorite side characters. I wish Rose would have depended on Lissa more in this book, because she kept so much in that it hurt me (and made me want to yell at her at times). Dimitri is swoon worthy as always, and the next book will break my heart before it heals it (or is that book five?). At any rate, lots of good stuff in this book. The threads of the story are so tightly woven, and everything connects in very impressive ways. Rose's mom shows up towards the end, which was nice since I really like her. I like (but don't love) Adrian; he just falls a bit flat for me. Overall, I enjoyed reading this, and I'll for sure reread book four, but I think I need to read something lighter before I do, haha. 4 stars! Recommended.

The best part of this book is Rose and Christian's friendship. But Rose is still so bratty and I don't see why two guys like her so much. I do appreciate how the story has Rose weighing the meaning of her duty after being told "they come first" all her life. I just wish it didn't take the form of her being in love with a much older man.

It started out pretty slow for me but finally picked up towards the end. The ending was unexpected to me but I enjoyed it. I can't wait to see what happens next with Lissa and Rose.

I really loved this book. It is definitely my favourite book in the series so far. I enjoyed reading it and need to know what happens next in the story.

In this book, the Guardian novices are getting ready for their qualification exam, where they have to protect a Moroi student in six weeks. But Rose has difficulties focusing when she starts to see Mason's ghost. So now she has to figure out what is going on and why she sees him. Lissa is battling with spirit, and it nearly goes wrong and turns even worse when Rose takes the darkness from Lissa. The relationship between Rose and Dimitri evolves throughout this book. Which made me really happy.
But the ending is just heartbreaking, and I cried my eyes out reading it.

We also get to see more of Adrian, who is trying to learn about spirit with Lissa. He also turns out to be the Moroi Queens nephew. Jeanine Hathaway also makes an appearance in this book.

The only reason this is not a 5 star is that it also has this info dump that annoyed me in book 2. Otherwise, I LOVED the book.
