These graphic novels spend some time adding a human element to the biographies of the people we already know from the new series - the new McCoy, the new Kirk, the new Scotty. And I think it's the best use for the medium in this franchise - the stories, while simplistic, feel good to read, and the addition of an old story shows how much the medium has evolved.
