This has very easily become one of my new favorite novels. I loved the author’s writing style and humor. Each character was amazing and fucked up in their own way. Every time I thought I had it figured out something even crazier happened, right up until the last sentence.

I really enjoyed this book! It's got lots of twists and turns, and that's not even accounting for the various supernatural elements throwing spanners in the workings of the Detective Club. I am also a sucker for the specific genre that looks at the grownup years of teens who were heroes during their teens and were likely left traumatised from that experience. Other books that sort of fit that are Every Heart A Doorway or The Shock Of Survival, and it tackled that angle really well. At points it got a little too creepy for my tastes, so beware of reading this right before going to bed. I really enjoyed the characters' friendships and relationships, and the side characters were really colourful if slightly one-note. Overall definitely the right read for this time of year, with a mystery, a monster, and creepiness galore!
