A master work, truly. I didn't enjoy this as much as The Emperor of All Maladies - it doesn't have as much heart and has a lot more science - but still a really great read.

It is truly an intimate history on the ever complex realm of genetics. You get a sense of the complex history, the many ethical concerns, and the potential future for genetics and genetic research. There author does an excellent job at giving you the information in a digestible version, but there are lots of technical terms and processes that maybe without hands on or previous exposure might take a bit to grasp.
