Intense. At first the podcast chapters really annoyed me, but then I got used to them. I liked that all the characters were shades of grey, no one pure evil or purely innocent.

So much expectation went down the drain.
The only redeeming quality about this book was the multi cast audiobook which is told in a mix of narration, podcast, and interviews.
This is my personal opinion as I found this book... dull.
I couldn't get attached to the characters, I couldn't care about what happens next, and I just wanted to finish quickly to spare me the agony.

I saw this book on a list of "9 Books Made for Listening" and thought the concept sounded interesting. Half of the story is from Sadie's perspective while the other half is told from the perspective of a "true crime" podcast. Because part of the story is as if you're listening to the podcast, it will definitely add to the experience if you get the audiobook instead of a hard copy. However, I'm not sure I'd recommend it. While this book has some dark themes, I found the tone very melodramatic, which made it hard to take it as seriously. Ultimately, I was left feeling that there were too many gaps and holes in the story.

(listened to the audiobook)

it takes a while till you realise it's about a heavy topic.

the audiobook was pretty cool with a cast of various people reading and performing, and being executed in podcast-like narrating style
