Ok first of all this is highly biased because I love Esther Perel and have watched every videos of her talks on YouTube, you should start with her Ted Talk. Whether you’re single or not this book is a great one as this is an issue we are all familiar with wether it is about us, family members or friends. I did read Mating in captivity and her latest.

Unfortunately found this repetitive with not too many aha moments. Perhaps a physical copy would’ve worked better. Too much anecdotal evidence IMO

I found her points of view really expanded areas which I find uncomfortable. I think she was quite a practical outlook which I like.
No two people, or relationships are the same "I find my job to be like a seamstress. I dont make the same suit for everyone."
I took a lot of notes from this book and helped me reconcile with events I'd completely forgot about.
I had a similar relationship to this book to "the seven principals of making marriage work" the main target audience of this book (or at least the last half) is for already married people.
I'm lying if I say none of this applies to me but it's more of a working book to come back to at different stages of life.

Excellent book for couples therapists and for folks interested in looking at infidelity from an open and curious perspective. It is not heavy on theory or empirical evidence, more an overview of insights gathered during her years of working with couples. Perel does a great job challenging contemporary views of marriage, monogamy, and fidelity by placing them into a greater historical/socio-cultural context while also being compassionate and thoughtful to those on either side of infidelity.
