UGGGG I just can't. This book was perfect. If I wasn't in a public place right now, I'd be crying over this stupid book.

"He always kept me just on the edge of crazy. Feeling like I wanted him too much, which just made me want him more."
Summary
Beth and Jennifer are work besties and while they know someone is monitoring their activity, they don’t seem to moderate their emails sent on the company server, very few of which are actually work-related. Lincoln gets a new job as an "internet security monitor" and can't believe his job is to read what people are sending each other, reporting up the chain as necessary. What he also can't believe is that he's falling in love with one of the employees at the news station, based on her emails to a friend.
Why did I pick up this book?
I heard this book recommended on the This Is Your Book Club podcast - I had never heard of this author, but the way the host talked about both Rowell and this book with such warmth made me want to pick it up.
What did I enjoy about it?
I loved the main character so much! He was so easy to root for and gosh, I just wanted to hug him. I also loved the premise/formatting and that it was set back in 1999 when email was just becoming mainstream. I appreciated the multiple points of view, both in emails and traditional narrative form, and how we got to see the different characters develop and grow.
What did I not enjoy about it?
The ending, to me, seemed slightly improbable, but I also would've been crushed if it had ended differently, so I'm conflicted. If I was in Beth's position, I think I would've responded differently, but I guess that's why I'm not a MC in a romance novel. *shrug* Other than that, I really enjoyed it and will likely read Rowell again!

Reading FanGirl made me pick up more books by Rainbow Rowell but I guess I still prefer Fangirl. The conversations were kind of funny and relatable and the relationship was kind of weird.
Though it will be a good choice for a little fun quick read I didn't love it.

When I started this book, I was thinking "Oh god he reads her email without her knowing, that is so weird and creepy" and wondered how a romance could possibly turn out decently after that, but when Lincoln went "Oh god I read her email without her knowing, I am so weird and creepy" it made me think maybe it'd be okay after all. I liked Lincoln (you're very obviously supposed to, to the point where it's like jesus I get it already) but I also found myself able to relate to his feelings of awkwardness so it was comforting to read.
Spoiler
I was really glad that they had a conversation at the end about what they'd both done, but it felt a little empty somehow so I took away points for that.Spoiler
It was a very nice book that I found myself reading quite quickly and enjoying the whole way through, but I don't think it's a book I'll remember much about in 6 months.Graphic: Fatphobia and Stalking
