Not a fan of the lost powers trope so ya know.

Also felt like Ara made a lot of excuses for Zimri... Still glad I finished this whole series!

The third book was much less interesting than the first two. It was too long, repetitive, and kind of boring.

I am so disappointed. The back of the book sounded like a 5⭐️ read, trials, childhood friends to lovers, and an author whose books I’ve liked before? Sounds great! But the characters were unlikable, the story so repetitive, and the trials such a minimal part of the book it just left me feeling let down. The first book will always have a special place in my heart, but the other two I could’ve gone without.

I don’t have a category for popcorn-worthy romance/fantasy, but maybe I should considering how unapologetically I inhaled this. I tend to crave this category between my heavier and/or sadder reads.

Consent is so sexy, and Mellow knows it.

Yes, the world-building felt like it was back-burner, but front burners - romance and family dynamics where constantly stirred.
