ummmmmm that ending killed me? i guess now my next read has to be blue lily lily blue.
“i am being perfectly fucking civil” sums up the book for me.
great sequel, not enough noah (though i laughed out loud when ronan threw him out of the window). ack, this book had me smiling the whole way through.
but please- more noah. my precious bean. though all of the raven boys are precious.

Full review on my blog.

I don't get the hype???

The writing is dreamy - very Neil Gaiman-esque, with strong character development - but the pacing is so bizarre. It's so freaking slow for the first 3/4 of the book (like dull-as-dishwater, watching grass grow-slow) and then EVERYTHING HAPPENS all at once and you're like "........" What just happened? Where did that come from? Why did this book have to drag on and on for that to occur?

To be fair - a "generous" reader, as John Green so frequently demands - I did like the moments with Blue and Gansey as well as the rare moments in which Noah appeared. I liked seeing a more complex Gansey. The Gray Man was really compelling as well - makes you think about the fine line between what we deem good vs. bad. Kavinsky was easily the most fascinating character we met, because we didn't get to explore his point of view the way we did with all the other characters. (I won't get started on what Maggie did with him though. Ugh.)

But I just don't get why everyone is so obsessed with this series. It feels all over the place. Random. I've read two books in this series already and I still have no idea what the point of it is. Good prose and complex characters does not a strong story make.

4.5 stars! Very well-paced, lots of adventures, new questions to be answered, and more insight on each of the Raven boys. I can’t wait to read the next one!
