I don’t know how I feel reading a book where I can’t feel any sympathy for the main character… I couldn’t get gripped and hooked to any of the characters because they were all very unlikeable. Also a lot of unnecessary things added purely for shock value.

This was creepy and grotesque! Part psychological, part gore, this disturbing slow burn got darker and darker as the story went on. It was well-written, especially the characters, and I will definitely be checking out book 2. Definitely check the trigger warnings on this one!

I read this book for spooky season and was not disappointed. Lori wants to win over incarcerated serialkiller edmund by going to his shack, getting a key and delivering it to the so called river man. She takes her sister along.

We go a disturbing and nervewrecking ride.
Thinking Lori was just a naïve, lost woman I uncovered more and more disturbing truths the more I read. I fully expected Abby and Petey being hurt by an accident. Reading how Lori raped her little brother truly made my insides turn.

The mix of psychological and gory horror was thrilling. I still don't know if I like the ending though.

Not at all as scary as the hype made it out to be and sort of dragged on in places. All together though, it's worth a read and was well written.
