A cute love story between two suburban teenagers on a New York adventure. Slightly different than the movie (which had a more streamlined plot and snappier dialogue), but the book had a certain amount of it's own dreamy charm.

Man, the movie improves on this…and it made me think that I was really gonna enjoy the career of Kat Dennings. And everything about Caroline in the flick was so entertaining…less so here.

Alternating voices was wonderfully executed! Not even the occasional "I did this...I did this because..." helps you out, you only see a person's actions through the other's perspective, and of course, the other's angsty, NY-teen-hipster-tainted interpretation.

no way in heck is the movie going to live up to the book.

Man. That was good. It was sweet and funny without trying too hard. Everything fit just right. I understand the instant connection between them. Music kinda does that, it's pretty amazing.

This book has been on my list to read for a while now. I really wanted to like it more than I did. Rachal Cohn and David Levithan alternate writing chapters in Nick and Norah's voices. I liked that and felt that it was successful to authenticate the difference in the voices and point-of-view. I also thought that premise of the story was fresh and interesting. "Will you be my girlfriend for 5 minutes?" What a fun idea. Unfortunately the book was so full of profanity that it made me cringe. The characters were into the punk rock scene so the language may have fit the characters but I didn't think so much was necessary.
