After reading Teardrop and Waterfall, I came across some critical reviews of Fallen. Were they going to stop me from reading Fallen? No. I often ignore reviews of a book and decide for myself as I have such a wonderful library to use. Even with Teardrop and Waterfall, I enjoyed them, but many didn't. So, I figured Fallen would be the same.

Well, guess what? I was wrong. But, not wrong in a bad way; wrong in a good way. Fallen was a lot better than Teardrop and Waterfall.

To Lucinda Price, enrolling at Sword & Cross is a last resort. unable to recollect the details of a tragedy which took the life of her friend, she arrives and Sword & Cross despondent. When she sees Daniel Grigori, everything changes.

Somehow, she feels a connection with him that she hasn't felt with anyone else before. He appears in her dreams, and it seems as if she knows him. But when she tries to talk to him, he shrugs her off coldly, leaving her lost and confused.

To me, a major part of the fascination and appeal of Fallen was Luce and Daniel's romance. Unlike in a lot of books, it was very complicated, but even more than that. Luce was similar to Megan in The Iron Knight; her feelings out in the open, but responded to in all coldness. Luce and Daniel are also very much opposites; while Daniel does everything because he believes he is protecting Luce, Luce will throw herself into danger to find answers. The real reason I gave Fallen 5+ Stars is because I really connected with Luce, and she unlocked a lot of emotion that is usually hidden deep inside me.

I recommend this to anyone who has read and loved any angel romance books, as well as anyone who's read 'the immortals' series by Alyson Noel.

Ugh. Talk about a boring, meek and helpless heroine. Luce was borderline pitiful. She wasn't constantly whining - which would have made me hate her - but she didn't take any kind of action. Everything happened to or around her, not because of her. Even if everything she did happened to be a mistake, I would have like her more. Daniel turned out to be okay after starting out as a tool, but she fell in love with him while he was acting the douche! The secondary characters were a lot more intriguing than our heroine. I do like the premise though and there is a lot I wouldn't mind being made clearer in future installments, as long as Luce grows a pair.

Well this story was basically a mess...there was no plot until the last 50 pages and even once everything is revealed, still nothing is revealed. Or maybe I just lost interest? Characters were boring, the love triangle was ridiculous, seriously why did she pick Daniel??? And just when I thought I would discover why I read this book, we simply get the stock explanation of-oh we're fallen angels. WAIT. Let's back up. You mean to tell me that the only reasoning I get for all this is what I read on the back cover? Well. Thanks.

Overall…I really liked this book. As the first of the trilogy it is set up leaving you wanting more as you really have only begun to discover the secrets of Luce-Daniel-Cam triangle. One thing that both frustrated me and had me biting my nails in expectation is that as the reader you discover the mystery with the main character Luce so as Luce gets frustrated with the unknown so does the reader or at least I did. I felt her pain and anger in not being told what was going on and receiving cryptic answers to her questions. I fell in love with all the characters both good and bad well maybe expect from Molly but I do love to hate her. I can’t wait to see how the author develops them further and character depths that will be explored. I can’t wait for the sequel Torment as there are many questions left unanswered.

After two of my friends raved about this book, I decided to try this book for myself. I found this book interesting but there was NOTHING unique about this book. Lovers that can't be together? Check. Love at first sight? Check. Dark secret? Check. Love triangle? Check.
Unfortunately, I keep getting sucked into these kinds of books so that's the reason for the four star.

I’m so over books that that don’t tell a complete story, instead it’s just an intro to a series. You can write a complete story within the bounds of a series, sheesh.
Most the characters are all awful tropes of what interesting characters should be.
One character actually said to another “This is a very long story and we can only give it to you one chapter at a time”
Well I shan’t find out the rest of this story, this book is the only one I will read. Terrible!

As a YA book, I enjoyed this and thought the story was good, great characters have been written with a lot of depth, including not the main ones. I have the second book in series so will probably pick it up and read it
