I didn’t necessarily hate this book, but I also didn’t like it.

From the previous books in the series, you know that Yulenna decides to stay as the Spidae’s anchor in the tower. This book shows Yulenna living in the tower and encouraging the Spidae to treat her well.

Yulenna never outright tells the Spidae that they have to treat her better, but instead she kind of hints at it, which I found a bit annoying. It felt like they didn’t really get to know each other, and instead it was just them learning to live with each other.

It mentions that the Spidae have to leave every now and then because they have to do their jobs, but it never says what they actually do. You find out which Spidae is responsible for the past, present and the future but the only thing it says is that they see events in those times. So, is their job just staring at the threads?

There aren’t any side characters, which is understandable, but given the fact that I didn’t really like how Yulenna and the Spidae were shown, I wanted to see some other characters. The idea of Apple was fun, but he was only shown once in a bit more detail and then he was just mentioned in the background.

I didn’t like Yulenna or her relationship with the Spidae, and I wanted to know more about the Spidae’s jobs.

<strong>Loved it</strong>

Whilst I would have loved more time with these four, I also don't think I could have handled watching them all go through more strife. They were all so sweet and fragile and in need of love and i was glad of the way they all got to know each other and learn to trust one another. I'll be reading the whole series again fairly soon, I imagine.

I’ve been impatiently waiting for Yulenna’s story since we left her in the first book. I LOVED this take on the fates - they see everything but time works differently for them and just because they see doesn’t mean they understand.
