Introducing Teddy is a perfect book, in my opinion, to read to a young child. It explains just enough for a child to grasp the understanding of transgender, without getting into huge concepts. It is also just a lovely story with amazing illustrations.

A lovely, uncomplicated story of acceptance and supportive friendship. My 6yo chipped in that girls can also be called Thomas if they want, which is a good point! But he also had no issue with the idea that choosing a new name and a new style of dressing is what some people will prefer to do. Nice introduction to discussing gender identity.

As it says on the cover, a gentle story about being a good friend, even if your friend wants to change their name.

This book is so pure and perfect, and should be a staple in every elementary school library. A wonderful way to normalize the idea of gender identity for all students, not just those questioning their own.

This is a beautiful book that wonderfully shows how to honor and respect our transgender friends. It's honest and so simple and such a necessary read!

This book lives up to its subtitle: it is certainly a very gentle, positive story about a teddy bear who tells her friend that she is a girl at heart, and wants to change her name from Thomas to Tilly.
I think it was slightly confusing that the bear was also called Teddy throughout the book, making the switch from Thomas to Tilly a little muddled.

It's ok, just so so basic and also it's a teddy bear, not a person. Felt almost like a cop out.
