I found this book to be incredibly boring but I finished it. The characters fell flat and the romance between Lugh and Kieran just wasn't believable.

This wasn't terrible, but it was a bit disappointing after how much I loved the first two books. For one thing, this book felt much more focused on the plot and battles and stuff than the previous books (where there was plot, but it never felt like the main point? The romance always seemed more important, at least to me), and I just didn't care and couldn't bring myself to focus enough on it. And if I had been more into the romance, I could've looked past caring less about the plot, but unfortunately the romance wasn't as strong for me as the other two books. I have enjoyed BFFs to lovers plenty of times in the past, but I think it's a trope I'm a bit pickier about, and here I just didn't feel enough of a shift from them being best friends to lovers, I guess? Their feelings seemed pretty constant and strong for one another the whole time and I didn't really get why they weren't just together, and then one of them basically comes to the same realization, and so they get together. It ended up just feeling kind of repetitive due to the lack of any real change/development in their feelings. And I did enjoy their dynamic and interactions, I just didn't really feel invested in them as a couple. This feels like a lot of complaining, and I want to emphasize that I did enjoy this in general even if I wasn't invested in the plot or romance. I still liked the characters and the world and enjoyed the cameos from previous books. This was more just disappointing in contrast to the rest of the series.

This was a pretty good series.

This book focused on Queen Mab youngest son Lugh and his best friend Kier. This was a true slow burn as these two slowly recognized their true feelings for each other, all the while enjoying adventures and preparing for the final war.

The best part was the brothers repairing their relationships and finally enjoying the peace that they fought so hard for.

A good ending to the series.

Okay hold up. I ended up really loving this series after buying the first audiobook from an audible sale. The narrator for this series is so good! Yeeee I'm always happy to find hidden gems~

Struggling to pick a rating for this, because while I liked it, I didn't love it, but the rest of the series was so good I feel like I need to rate it higher?
I was really looking forward to this after the first two books, but the first 60% of the story was actually a massive slog, honestly, and if this had been the first book rather than the last maybe I would've just given up.
I want to give this book four stars because the ending was good and settled all matters that needed settling... But, damn, I just really didn't get much out of that first 60%.

After trying to read Brontide, I really didn't have much hope in another faerie book, but boy did this book blow my socks off. This is how it's done.
