This only doesn’t get a 5 because I miss the crew on the wayfarer so much please give them back I want to know how they are. That said I loved reading about Sidra and Pepper and Owl and I did cry (a reasonable amount) reading this book

Loved this book! Story follows Lovey and Pepper after the wayfarer and reveals Pepper’s backstory. For me, this was even better than the first book.

Another banger Becky.

Starting this, I was thinking about how much I'd be missing the Wayfarer crew, but it turns out Becky Chambers can make me become emotionally attached to virtually any character. There is a distinctly darker & more emotional tone in this one compared to The Long Way, which I didn't mind--but that's a warning that I cried during this book multiple times. And thematically there's some similarities to Psalm of The Wild-Built so that's cool, and I'd highly recommend if you're looking for more stuff like that.

I love these characters so much. Really all of them in the Wayfarers universe, but still. Excited to keep going with the series.

This book is heart-breaking and heart-warming all wrapped up in a comfort read, like a nice hot drink on a chilly day. There is in-depth character-building and I love seeing the growth of the characters from the start of the book to the end.

While nothing like I expected, the second book in the Wayfarers series was wonderful! I want to read everything Becky Chambers has written!
