Interesting and incredibly insightful. Though I am not a big non-fiction reader this book had me interested all the way through & I could have read so much more of it! Being a topic I don't face often in everyday life the book was still very approachable for someone who isn't well versed in the history of Australia & the lifes of the Aboriginals. I loved delving into the history of agriculture & the consequences colonialism had on land use and much more.

Such an important text. I listened to the audiobook read by Bruce Pascoe himself.

Although I found it a bit repetitive and dry, this book is so important and should absolutely be read by all Australians. I learnt a lot and am very grateful to have read it.

One of the best books I’ve ever read.

Investigating Aboriginal culture and practices using the written accounts of the indigenous population by first British explorers of Australia as a compass to wider conversation.

“I was shamed by the poverty of my expectations ... The start of the journey is to allow the knowledge that aboriginal people did build houses, did cultivate and irrigate crops, did sew clothes, and were not hapless wanderers across the soil, mere hunger gatherers.”
