Good counterbalance to the overly romantic views of law I’ve been getting from various sources.

Don't read this unless you are going to law school, and even then...it's sort of ridiculous, will just give you anxious nightmares, and really - unless you are going to Harvard, cuz I can't speak for ya'll - is not even an accurate representation. Read "Gideon's Trumpet" or something, instead.

Good book! This book really gives some insight to life as an One L. Although my life as an one L was not as harsh as the book, the book did prepare me for the complete craziness of being a one L. The book is sad but funny. If you are thinking about going to law school, in law school, or a law grad I think that you will find this book interesting and funny.

The last part was terribly boring.

A personal favorite. I read this book the summer before I attended my first year of law school.

In the 1970s, Scott Turow left a job teaching English at Stanford University, turned down a faculty position at another university, and entered Harvard Law School where he encountered terror, depression, grinding competition, and, occasionally, mass hysteria. After living with my husband through his three years of law school, I concluded that continuing to teach history and political science at the college level was just fine with me. And I haven't regretted it for a minute.

It was for sure helpful for me, but it also gave me a lot of anxiety about starting law school. It was a little slow but it was a pretty good read. I'd definitely recommend it to someone about to start law school to prepare them for the first term.

3.75 stars. Interesting memoire of first year law at Harvard. Many relatable moments for anyone who has survived law school.
