I read this book shortly after finishing Ender's Game; it was highly recommended by a friend. I was uncertain at first, informed that it was the same story as Ender's Game but told from the perspective of a different character. I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy the book, already knowing the ending. This did not turn out to be the case. Yes, it is the same event, but NOT the same story. It is the story of Bean whose life is nothing like Ender's. I enjoyed getting to know Bean. I was impressed by how well the author conveyed the intellectual thinking process of this gifted character. It was interesting to see how he examined situations and how accurate he was judging character and motives. This is a great read; very different from Ender's Game. I highly recommend it.

An interesting companion/alternative to Ender's Game. Not as good, but definitely worth reading if you've read Ender's Game.

Didn't like it as much as Enders game but I did see Beans point of view as valid.

I like the idea of telling the story from a different character's perspective. I like the idea of finding out where Bean comes from, and watching Battle School through his eyes. I just didn't like Bean as much as I wanted to. He was too off-the-charts for me to really empathize with him.

Loved this book. I am a long time fan of Ender's Game having first read it to my son when he was young. I enjoyed listening to Ender's Game, some 20 years later, and really enjoyed listening to Ender's Shadow. It is a good production that kept me more engaged that reading the book (which I had completed 1/2 way last year). It enriched the Ender universe from the perspective of a very different character.

4.5 stars / If you’ve read Enders game, this is a great book. I loved hearing Bean’s story and getting a different perspective. Since so much of the world building is tackled in Ender’s Game, there is very little exposition and is a really quick, enjoyable read. I always liked Bean’s character and it was nice to spend a little more time with him.

This book was even better than Ender's Game. If you liked Ender's Game, you'll love Ender's Shadow. I didn't expect this perspective to be so unique. :)
