This book is in desperate need of an editor for the writing and spelling mistakes that were suprisingly distracting to me despite not usually being a problem. I feel like the pacing also fell a little flat; and, maybe the rest of the series is good despite this one missing the mark. While I'm not totally sure about continuing the series, I kind of liked the characters. There wasn't really enough going on with the plot to warrant the levels of violence, and there wasn't really enough chemistry between the two main love interests. Overall, this book was very... mid, but it is a pretty quick read due to the writing.

I'm interested in Thatcher's backstory the most, but I'm interested in Silas's healing journey more than the other three combined.

I was rlly into the book at first and read the first 45% in one sitting on a plane, until I started to get bored. Idk if it was bc the story felt like not enough was happening for much I read at that point or bc I was getting restless from being stuck on a plane. I procrastinated the shit out of reading the rest of the book since then. It took me a whopping for 4 months to finish the book.

I will say it got very interesting at 70% when we find out what happened to Rose and I wish it was a bigger part of the story or something because for some reason the structure or the plot line itself felt boring after the beginning. The mmc and fmc were also so deeply romantic after the climax at 70% when shit goes down and they finally start giving into their feelings for each other, which makes me wish the author wrote more of their relationship building into the story or that their “slow burn” was more emotionally complicated for the characters in the middle of the book instead of just being sexual + enemies bc their romantic feelings would have felt so much more believable.

I would have DNFed book months ago but I wanted to push through so I can read the rest of the series, I hope the other books are better.

I got 8 pages into the 474, but it was just too slow and focused on too cliche descriptions. It just didn't grab me at all.

I feel like I was left wanting more from this book. Like in the beginning, I was invested and wanted to hear more about each of the boys and their stories, but somehow, when Allister and Briar were "together," I felt like all of sudden Briar became this girl Allister had described, like the ones who want to dip a toe in the dark side and then leave. Briar isn't like that at all, so not sure why it started to turn in that direction. Regardless I enjoyed the books and will be reading the rest of the series
