I remember how it was when I finished the first book! I was speechless, I was in love, I was mesmerized. That feelings have always been there, everytime I open this series to continue, but with all of its greatness, the story failed to improve. It was just the amazing it was in the first book. That doesn't mean this book was bad, it was far greater than lot of books I read, but I was expecting much more, and got so little. But all these aside, I love these people soooo much, I know a part of me will die when I'm done with the next book.

emotional funny mysterious reflective sad tense medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? Yes
  • Loveable characters? Yes
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

a reread of one of my favorites, which i still adore and reading it in retrospect shows the careful crafting of maggie’s writing which i personally think in this is much better than her wolves series, and the characters are so much more compelling. i adore family dynamics and i’m fond of all the side characters because they all get “moments” and they all have defined personalities beyond furthering the main plot and i really like that :)

While I absolutely adore this series, I think that this book has been my least favorite so far.

Every one of these books just has a thicker plot. Honestly, at this point, they’re all desperate to find Glendower and it's incredibly entertaining. It makes me sad knowing that there's only one book left for me in this series because I'm attached. Every character is so loveable, I don't know how I'm going to let them go.

I'm in love with Richard Campbell Gansey the III.

Comparatively, there was more of a focus on characters and less of a focus on plot, concentrating on (engaging and entertaining) relationships as opposed to a sequence of events. At times, I was impatient, waiting for something - anything - to happen, but reading about the authenticity and personality of their conversations and interactions passed the time.
