It was alright - nothing special. I expected a more in-depth story and to see more about how things progressed - the time skips jumped too far ahead. The world-building was good though, and intricate.

It was instalove, there was no conflict let alone a plot and the main characters weren't fleshed out at all. It was not good but at least it was short.

King’s Conquest is a classic fantasy story that will have you thinking about it long after you’ve finished reading the book. I love reading fantasy, but sometimes it’s the same idea repeated again and again. Not this one, though. It was refreshing to read something different, and the difference was what stayed with me. This is the first book in a new series, and I can’t wait for the next installment.
Prince Rin is the heir to the throne of a country that’s been defeated in a war, but Rin is heir in name only, because his father kept a tight rein on him and did not teach him anything to prepare him for the future. To cement a peace agreement between his kingdom and the victors, he becomes the peace offering to King Meriny. The king wants Rin as a concubine and someone who can produce an heir. Yes, in this story men can get pregnant and have children. Although reproduction in both sexes wasn’t very well explained, the whole concept was interesting and hopefully, we’ll get more details in the next installment. Even though I loved the world building, just from reading a couple of pages I could tell that there was so much more detail and richness that could have been added. I’m hoping there will be more world building in the next book.
The story follows Rin’s transition from his home to Meri’s, the culture shock, and Rin’s joining with the king. Meri is not what Rin expected and his actions have Rin reevaluating his situation and his feelings for Meri. There is an attempt on Rin’s life and a pregnancy! But in the end everything works out.
I loved everything about this book except that it was too short. It was fun and entertaining. The relationship between Rin and Meri was sweet and hot. Rin was inexperienced and Meri was a hot alpha warrior. He’s the one to take charge and take care of his love, which Rin became. If you love reading about this relationship dynamic, then you will love this book.

Not sure how I feel about the idea of guys being able to give birth. I only got to read the sample.

I gave this one multiple chances, but the author just really doesn't know how to tell a story, let alone a romance. Too much telling, not enough showing, and running to do things she's excited to show us without any lead in at all.

Normally I don't go anywhere near mpreg, since it reminds me too much of a regular m/f romance.
I was somewhat disappointed at the abrupt ending. Hope Rin lives on to enjoy his husband and his children.
The book itself seems sketchy and I mean it literally.
1.5 stars from me.
